One or two Greek Islands

I have ten days in Greece, spending the first in Athens tomorrow then plan to head to the islands. Wanted to go to Santorini because i'm a photographer and have heard good things, but i'd also like to see what it's like to party on a Greek island. Should I go to Mykonos as well? Other posters have said it's too expensive. I want to be able to make it to Corfu for two days as well, I have no idea how realistic i'm being logistically.

That probably wasn't very clear. I'm wondering if i'd be happier just sticking with one island under my time constraints, or if a good island to party without breaking the bank is very close to santorini that I could go to for just one day, and how long can I expect in travel time to get all the way back to athens then to corfu by train?

Elija - Santorini and Mykonos are the two most popular Greek Islands of over 220. There are other great ones - Corfu is also one of my favorites BUT - If you only have time for two this trip - Santorini and Mykonos! Try not to party to hard on Paradise Beach In Mykonos!!!! And , as far as expense goes, Mykonos is no more expensive than most of the other islands - more competition for your money so prices are decent.

Have Fun, Greg

While you're on Santorini you can check out the nightlife in Fira. It's not quite as expensive as Mykonos but it's almost as lively. Then if you think you want to try another party island you can catch a ferry to Ios which is very close and is well-known as a party island. 3 islands and Athens in 10 days is spreading yourself too thin, but if you insist on going to Corfu flying is the only way you can fit it in logistically without wasting too much time in transit. There's no ferry from any Aegean island, or Athens for that matter, that will take you to Corfu. If you don't fly you'll first have to make your way back to Athens take a bus to Patras for the ferry to Corfu.

Ok well I think flying is out of the budget, but I have to go to Corfu to get to Italy. I was thinking I should be able to spend two days in athens, three days in Santorini, and three in Corfu? Undoable? Also, does anyone have links to good sunsets in Santorini? A perusal of results on google images has left my enthusiasm a bit deflated...

"I have to go to Corfu to get to Italy"

Not necessarily, unless you have a specific reason to stop there, since there are ferries from Patras to one of several Italian ports without the need to pass through Corfu. If you're budget doesn't allow for you to fly be advised that it will take you 8 hours to get from Santorini to Athens, then another hour to get into Athens for the bus to Patras, then once the bus leaves it's another 3 hours to Patras for the ferry to Corfu. I don't know when you plan to do this, but it might be necessary for you to spend a full day waiting for the next ferry to Corfu. You'll be wasting a lot of your precious 10 days taking this route to Italy.

Also Aegean Airlines has periodic airfare sales that makes flying from Athens to Rome, Milan or Venice very affordable, sometimes less than the ferry, and if you have to factor in a hotel for an overnight along the way then flying makes much better sense.

Links to good sunsets? Do you mean links to sunset photos?

Or do you want suggestions for locations for taking photographs or for dining at sunset?

You didn't say how old you are, but if you're under 35 Ios is great fun. You can certainly have a good time there if you're older if you don't mind hanging with a younger crowd. You want to be there in season because it gets real quiet there in the off season.
