One day guide Istanbul

We are going to be in Turkey for 2 weeks with a group of friends unfortunately we can not be there the first 3 days, Istanbul, but we will have 2 days on the return. Day one with friends, last day on our own. I would like a guide for the day who at the end of the tour take us to the airport. any suggestions?

you don't need a guide to take you to the airport - the metro line goes directly to the airport (one change).

Agree with David. Unless you have a ton of luggage Istanbul airport is one of the easiest to reach by public transport. In addition, it's one of the easier cities to get around by public transport, and there are loads of good guidebooks. And guidebooks - including Rick's - usually have one or two recommendations for guides.

"...Istanbul airport is one of the easiest to reach by public transport..." I actually found it to be one of the most unpleasant experiences in all my travels through Europe. The tram portion of the journey between the Sultanahmet and Aksaray was packed like sardines going to/from the the airport, having to stand for the entire journey. When I return to the city one day, I will be using a taxi:)

I don't have a guide to suggest, but do have an idea. Your hotel probably knows of some reliable guides and could recommend one. Good luck.

Thanks for the airport transpotation advice. With luggage for 2, we travel light, I think a bus would be a hassel. In London we have done the train and the bus with no problems but in Turkey I think private transportation would be best. Thanks for suggesting some websites for a guide. I understandthere is a lot to see where aguide is not necessary. Chris

I am planning to utilize a service that will take us or pick us up for $95 each way. Getting old and don't want to hassle with the multiple bags, trains/buses with the multiple bags, finding a reputable cab driver (good luck, always exciting and always a gamble). No argument that it seems pricey, but one less thing for us to worry about since we are shelling about a bit of change for the trip anyway (relative to the total expense of the trip, it avoids the unpleasantness of the hassle). Now, agree some like that adventure. Also agree that my second and third visits to countries like France and Italy, I am much for adventuresome. The first trip....... If you want to know who we are using, just send me a note
