Obelisk hotel in Istanbul

We are taking a RS tour of Istanbul in oct and the tour will be staying at the Obelisk hotel. We are coming in 2 days early and should we stay at the Obelisk or find another hotel in Istanbul. The last night would like to spend on night at the Ataturk airport since we are coming off a day tour of Ephesus and will be leaving the next day for Paris. Anyone have any recommendations for the airport hotels.

We stayed at the TAV Airport Hotel last Fall. It is modern and very clean. The rooms are spacious and soundproofed. Very comfortable beds/pillows/high quality sheets/towels/bath products. You get free wi-fi/bottled water/coffee/tea. Breakfast is served beginning at 4:00 am. The hotel has two sections. The land side section is close to the VIP Lounge of the international terminal. The air side is located in the transit area and best for passengers with long layovers. We stayed air side and paid by the hour. We stayed 8 hours, had a really early flight and I think we paid around 120 euros. To stay air side, you have to get your boarding pass and have cleared passport control. The land side is a 3-minute shuttle ride away from the terminal.

I think you are also asking about the Obelisk. It is a comfortable Hotel with a great location. I stayed there a couple of nights Also on the RS tour. Would not necessarily recommend the rooftop restaurant for dinner but nice for a glass of wine. There is a nice restaurant about 3 blocks away..go out the door, take a right, go one block and take a right, go to the end of the street and take another right. Don't remember the name but the sea bass is very good. You will enjoy the
neighborhood and the nearby artisan market.

I just stay there in May on RS Best of Turkey tour, it was a nice hotel - I just could not get them down to a reasonable price for my pre-tour stay. I went down the street bit. That ended up being what most people in the group did.
lot of hotels close by, check them out.

I stayed at the WOW Hotel (http://www.wowhotelsistanbul.com/ ) at the airport, I got a reduced rate as I held a Turkish Airlines boarding card. It has a shuttle, and is a very short walk from public transport to/from the city. I stayed in the cheaper half and thought it was very comfortable - standard international-style hotel.
