November Closures

I am planning a trip that will include Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, northern Italy Austria, and Cesky Krumlov in a late October-November time frame. I understand that many attractions in Cesky Krumlov (castle, theatre, gardens etc.) are closed in November. Do these closures just apply to formal tours, or do they actually prohibit entry? If the latter, should I consider eliminating Cesky Krumlov from my itinerary, or are there other attractions that would still merit a 2-day stay? I understand that the town itself is beautiful, but what's to do in November? I would also appreciate any comments regarding significant closures for the rest of my proposed itinerary a in mid Oct-end Nov time frame. Possible cities may include Kosice, Budapest, Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Ljubljana, (Udine, Aquileia, Trieste area), Klagenfurt or Graz, Krems-Durnstein, Cesky Krumlov. I may need to simplify the itinerary. Comments please?

Closures in Czech sites usually means no entry onto the grounds. Everything is locked.

Hi Jerry. I can speak to the Croatian side of things, as the ferry schedules slow down a lot in the winter months and stop completely after Oct from Croatia to Italy. As for Split, most touristy things are open regular hours, such as the palace and museums. Many attractions in Slovenia have reduced hours in the winter as well or are completely closed if they are geared towards the outdoors, other than the snow filled variety... those are awesome and open. We have not been to Ljub. in the wintertime. Good luck with your itenerary, and peaceful travels. We are living in Split if you have any questions about Dalmatia. Stacy

Any room recommendations in Spit? or Dubrovnik?

Thanks, Debbie. We solidified our schedule and still plan to spend 2 days in Cesky Krumlov even though the castle and theatre will be closed.
