Non-Smoking Accommodation, No Pets & Restaurants-Budapest & more

Hi, I am going to be visiting Prague, Budapest, Vienna, & the Swiss Alps in either Aug, Sept or October of 2012. I am allergic to cats, dogs, smoke, cleaning products, cigarette or cigar smoke and scents of all kinds (candles, washing detergent, deodorizers, etc). Do you know of a places that would accommodate the above. We are willing to rent an apt, stay at a B&B or hostel (if the hostels are as nice and safe as they are in New Zealand.). Thank you for your time and consideration,
Madeline Binder

I think your best bets will be B&B's with whom you'll be able to communicate your allergic reactions to detergents, scents etc. (offer to pay extra for scent free detergents/soaps etc.) The Dog/Cat issue is going to be a real problem. Can't think of any B&B in Europe that we stayed in that didn't have a resident dog or cat. Smoking in restaurants has pretty much gone by the way side except possibly Prague (haven't been there in several years).

You will have to do your homework searching for quality places. I agree that your best bets are likely to be B&Bs. Start with the top rated ones on RS and Tripadvisor.com. Smoking isn't found nearly as often as it was in the past and you can easily inquire using email about smoking, pets, etc. September might be a good month to travel because the rooms are less likely to be sealed up with the heat or A/C on.

Try the 7 Seasons apartment in Budapest. They do not allow pets or smoking. Maybe they would be willing to work out the rest of your needs.

I was in Budapest in May 2010. There were smokers in almost all the cafes and restaurants.
