Hi!
My husband and I fly into Frankfurt in a few weeks and want to take a train to Prague. This will be during the day (not an overnight) and I wasn't sure if it's better to purchase my tickets in advance as opposed to when we get there.
Any info would help.
Thank you!
Any reason why you won't fly directly/or connect into Prague rather than endure the long train ride.
Also look into flying - may be cheaper.
If you are set on the train, I believe buying in advance will probably get you a cheaper fare.
We're using frequent flier miles to get there and Frankfurt was our only option!
So far, plane tickets from Frankfurt to Prague have been very expensive, hence the train ride. Thanks for the advice about purchasing the train tickets in advance!
purchase your tickets in frankfurt.
Can I ask which airlines miles are you using to get to Frankfurt? I have found that most US based airlines have lots of partners than you can use to get to the final destination.
I normally fly to Europe on my United miles and have flown on BMI, Lufthansa, LOT, Scandanavian, Austrian, Turkish, Air Dolomiti and Croatian all without spending anything more in miles. This is one of the great benefits of frequent flyer miles. This summer we are planning on flying all the way into Sarajevo and out of Kiev on miles.
Patty, you can ride from Frankfurt to Prague 2nd class for around € 100 or less, about 8 hours with a change in Dresden. Unless you are in a big hurry to get to Prague, Dresden would be a good place to stay over a day and break up the trip, it is well worth seeing.
Arnold - we're flying United using a special deal flying to one of 5 European countries and we chose Frankfurt, not knowing what our itinerary would be at the time. Your upcoming trip sounds great!
Ash - thank you for the info! We had heard Dresden would be a good place to stop for a while. Do you suggest purchasing the tickets online, before we arrive in Frankfurt?
barry- just wondering....is it just easier to do it this way? I'm wondering if we might be able to get a better deal purchasing them earlier.
