Must see for 2 1/2 days in Athens?

Will be in Athens in mid-April (before Easter) for 3 nights (Thursday-Sunday). Staying at Hotel Tony! What are your must see activities? Any places that we must eat/drink? It's our first time in Greece, and will be the last stop on as 12-day trip. Thanks!

#1 on the must-see list has to be the Acropolis (walking up to the top, not just viewing it from ground level).

It's naughty of me to send you elsewhere but there is a forum with contributors who visit Greece a LOT or actually live in Athens. Use this link http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g189400-i194-Athens_Attica.html and click on 2 places -- the RH box "Top Questions about Athens" and also the 2nd Thread in the TOpics list "What to Do in Athens If..." Both of these will give you ALL the best answers; I know many of the expert contributors personally, and can testify they are tops, and will not send you to "tourist rip-off" places. I myself have been to Athens about 20 times in my 9 trips, and am sending u to this advice because it's so useful & straightforward, and based on experience, not promotional considerations..

Erin As well as the Acropolis try and find time to go up Philopappos, the hill opposite. Some of the best views of the Acropolis are from here and, on a clear day, you can also see down to Piraeus. More details here http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/Greece/Prefecture_of_Attica/Athens-426812/Things_To_Do-Athens-Philopappos_Hill_and_Monument-BR-1.html I would also recommend the Keramicos, which has some beautiful statues, and the Byzantine Museum which has been completely refurbished in the last couple of years. Have a great trip Alan

Of course the standards like the Acropolis and the new museum (absolutely excellent!). The Agora is really good too as you can see a virtually intact temple instead of just ruins. The little rock cropping between is a popluar dusk hangout and vista. The archeaological museum is really good. It needs updating but the collection is not to miss. Just wandering around the Plaka is good too. My favorite restaurant is To Kafenio (listed in RS) for mezedes. Favorite watering hole is Brettos (on Kidathenion St) for its amazing selection of ouzo and liquors like mastiha and tentura.

Ride the funicular up Lycabettus Hill from the Kolonaki District (near Kolonaki Square) for a drinks and a meal at sunset. The view is outstanding.
