Mostar for 1 Night

Has anyone done a 1 night trip to Mostar? Any problems reserving a room for just 1 night? Was some local currency needed or were you able to get by with just kuna and/or euro?

I was in Mostar for one night last summer. I don't remember the currency situation, but since I was in BH for a couple of days, I'm sure I went to an ATM pretty much right away. It was a little difficult booking last minute, and that was with a Bosnian friend (of a friend) helping me out. He took me to the Hotel Kriva Cuprija, which was full, but they had a relationship with another place just a few minutes' walk away and I got a room there. But I'd try to set it up in advance--I was doing this only one or two days in advance. If you want, I still have my tourist map and can give you some contact info for places there. Hope this helps.

My boyfriend and I went in March and had booked a room for one night at the Kriva Cuprija, which was no problem. However, about a month before we went our travel plans changed to staying for 2 nights, and that hotel was booked. So we ended up staying at the Villa Fortuna (in Rick's book) and LOVED it. We were so glad we ended up there instead of the Kriva Cuprija. Villa Fortuna is about a 5 minute walk to Old Town and about a 20 minute walk to the train/bus station.

The currency situation is funny, because everywhere we went they accepted Convertible Marks (KM - the official currency), Euro, and Kuna. We paid for lunch one day in KM and got KM, Euro, AND Kuna back in change. You should have no problems, especially using the Euro (which is an exact 2:1 ratio - 2 KM to 1 Euro).

By the way, Nela, the fantastic owner of Villa Fortuna, is updating her website so you won't find much info on it. But the rooms are great and we can't say enough about the place.
