Luggage Suggestions for Greek Island Travel?

I used to have a bag that worked as both a backpack and as a bag with conventional center-handles AND a shoulder strap. That worked OK, back then. However, I have reservations about rollaboards that also go on the back. My feeling is, in order to roll reliably (i.e.,over cobblestones & steps without tipping sidey-ways, without wheels or handle breakage) -- you need Sturdy Construction. Kmart's finest won't cut it. And that strength would add to weight on a back. For my first 9 years of Greece travel I used a 22" Travelpro roll-on with Zero breakage (while seeing many Walmart fall-aparts). Last year I downsized to 20" Travelpro which (due to shrewd configuration) actually holds MORE. Very manageable & nimble; have bumped it up steps or carried it up several flights of stairs without strain. If u just want a bag to last 1 trip, go cheap. Otherwise, check Travelpro bargains online (I got mine about 75$ off "list price" because I was willing to go with Tan instead of black).
