Loved Turkey, Where to NEXT??

We've travel much of urope, and eastern europe. Our last big trip was the Greece and Turkey. Absolutely loved turkey the best of all, so wonderful and unusual. Can you give me any suggestions of others unusual places to go? Like Cairo, etc...???

Egypt for sure. But try not to go in summer months. the temps are over 100 f./desert and becuz of that most tours are set up for dawn and evenings. So the days are spent indoors waiting for cooler temps. Yes museums are gd for daytime but alot of touring is outside for the archaeology. I hope i can afford to return someday in future in Spring/Fall.

Your question is a little vague since you don't really specify where you have been in E. Europe. Does this mean that you have traveled through Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, the Baltics, Georgia, Armenia, etc. Also, are you thinking close to Europe? What exactly did you like about Turkey. If it is the intro to more of the East, then consider Morocco, and Egypt. If you are interested in Arab culture & lands, try the UAE and Oman. Else, you also have all of S. America and SE Asia to consider. Again, lots of choices - you need to provide more info on what you are looking for.

Since you are already considering Cairo, I would heartily recommend that you go and explore this exotic and memorable city. Riding a camel at sunset on the Giza plateau with the pyramids rising out of the timeless desert sands was a treasured travel moment for me. Egypt is an amazing destination.

Another option, since you loved Turkey, is to return there. The country is huge--did you visit the Black Sea coast? The Aegean coast? Ankara? The Eastern Mediterranean? Bursa? Canakkale? Didyma? The Kurdish East? Safranbolu? Konya? Van? Those are just a few of the places that are often missed by visitors to Turkey that are well worth a visit. I've been to Turkey lots of time and there are still lots of places that I need to explore.

Come to Israel. We are a Westernized country with over 3000 years of history, including Roman cities, Crusader fortresses and every sect of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. We also have the Med, the Dead and the Red. Float in the Dead Sea, lowest place on earth, snorkel among the coral reefs and tropical fish in Eilat, and have a glass of wine and watch the sun set over the Mediterranean. Cuisine from around the world, top-class wineries, and millions of migrating birds between Africa and Europe. There's lots more, but I'm starting to sound like a travel brochure.
