Hello, My husband, our 2 dogs and myself will be traveling to Zagreb and Sarajevo in April. Could someone recommend a hotel, apartment or other lodging in either city?

Since you haven't gotten any replies, here is my experience (not necessarily a recommendation since you haven't indicated price points or location)
In Zagreb, we stayed at the Sheraton which was a 5 min walk from the train station and a 5-10 min walk to the central square. Typical western hotel. I chose it since I was using points and hence did not have to pay for it. Not sure if they take dogs.
This summer we will start our trip in Sarajevo. Planning on staying in the Holiday Inn. Again, main reason is that it is free on points.
Depending on your budget I suggest you check out the following two places.
inyourpocket.com - they have free downloadable guides for both Sarajevo and Zagreb - I love these guides since they give you a lot of insight into the local scenes and are quite good about the descriptions. This will probably have more info than most any other guidebook. Best of all it is free.
The 2nd place to check out is the thorntree discussion on the Lonely planet website. Though this is more geared towards the backpackers. Tripadvisor is also an option though I don't always trust the recommendation.
