Anyone have experience with clean rooms with private baths very near the Plitvice Lakes? Rastovaca is one of the towns.
Would like name and email if possible.

I traveled that area by auto in October 1987. My wife and I watched for zimmers and stayed with families every night.
Everything has changed since then, but I still recommend staying in homes. One can see how they live and absorb more of their culture. And it is far cheaper than hotels. We stayed two nights on farms in the country.
Old folks don't speak English, but that did not present a problem for us. Many of the younger people speak English. The people were quite friendly toward Americans then. I would do it the same way today if I went back.

Last September we stopped in Slunj after reading Rick's one sentence in his book and it turned out to
be a "gem" - a beautiful miniature Plitvice town. We stayed in a sobe and there were several which was very nice. For any one else traveling to Croatia and Slovenia this fall, last September we toured both countries by car and stayed in sobes everywhere including Dubrovnik.
