Lodging in Dresden

Hi
I'll be in Dresden and Gorlitz the last week in May. Can anyone suggest modestly prices lodgings?

I was in Dresden last spring and stayed at the Holiday Inn on Stauffenbergallee. It's a ways from the center, but it is a very short walk to the tram stop that takes you there. An added bonus: one of the best showers I've ever seen in Europe!

Hi, The DJH hostel is not that far from Dresden Hbf., about a 15 mins. max. on Maternisstraße, a large multi-story building, one of those Mietskaserne types. I stayed there for a couple of nights in 2009; that time I got a separate room instead of the usual dorm room. It was a good, simple, cheap, and clean en suite accomodation. Good food served at dinner.

Ursula, We were on Dresden a couple years ago and stayed at one of the Ibis Hotels near the train station and a short walk into the town center. It worked well for us for 1 night. It was in the Rick Steves' book.

Its been a couple years since I was in Dresden. Pension Kaubler was an excellent choice. It was a short bus ride from the Dresden train station. The host was wonderful and served up a great breakfast. As for price, it may not be the cheapest in Dresden but still in the lower price range and very good value for money.
