anyone have any suggestions about accommodations in Ljubljana? I'd like to stay near the city center and closer to the old town. also, what are your thoughts about arriving on the train with no reservations and being able to secure one? This would be in the September time range. I see from the RS book that there is a TI that can give a list of cheap private rooms, that sounds like a good alternative?

Hostel Celica - a converted prison. It's a hostel, it's funky and fun, it's close to the train station, to the downtown and the old town. Ljubljana is not a big town - everything is close - you can walk from the hostel to the old town in 8 blocks or less. I really enjoyed Ljubljana.

My wife and I just got back and stayed at the Alibi 14 Hostel. A bit small but a short walk walk to the town center.

we stayed at the Slamic B & B. It is very close to the old center of the city (5 minutes walking) and about a 10 minute walk from the train station as well. Very good breakfast as well Greg
