Ljubljana

We have not been to Ljubljana and so was wondering if there is enough to do for 3 days?

Our family of 4 just got back from Ljubljana last month. We loved it, but i think 3 days is too much. I would say 1.5 or 2 days is plenty. We rented 4 bikes from the tourist office for 2 hours and paid 4 euros total. it was the biggest bargain of our trip!

if you arrive in the mid of the day then spend the evening in LJU is enough. you may want to day trip to a big cave nearby (one of the largest cave in europe) and a nearby castle. so total no more than 2 nights. save time for other sites, i.e. lake bled, or the coast.

That is good to know as we are just starting to plan our trip. Is there somewhere we could go first and then take the train to Ljubljana for say, 2 days? Maybe somewhere that is just 2 or 3 hours by train away?

We stayed in Lake Bled for 2 days before Ljubljana, i would highly recommend it. It was beautiful (we biked, rowed, swam, etc...) You can also take a lot of day trips from that area. Do you like to hike?

HI Cindy! We spent weeks in glorious Slovenia, and I must say I disagree, we spent days in Ljublijana and LOVED it there. We travel slow, so we enjoyed the Sunday morning markets, the castle and bridges, the parks and beautiful buildings, and wondering around the city in general. We also traveled a lot in Slovenia from LJ, the roads are easy to navigate and everything is very close. The buses in the city are wonderful as well, but we did not utilize the trains. We drove through Lake Bled and headed to Bohinj instead, but it is a personal choice in terms of which you like better. We found Bled to be very touristy and enjoyed hanging with locals in Bohinj much more. We booked a horse trail ride through the mountains of around Bohinj, stopped at roadside farm stands and enjoyed the country life. We also went to caves and such, checked out the river valleys and Burkini fruit road. I hope you enjoy Slovenia and peaceful travels! Stacy

Thanks for the reply! We were hoping we could find enough to do but sometimes it is just nice to do nothing but enjoy the area.
