Docking there for a day. What to see. Any help appreciated. Walkable sites from ports or do we hire a car?

Too bad you only have one day. This is a beautiful but very large island. Mytiline does not have a lot to see. There is a good archeological museum, and a fort, that you could walk to. Lots of cafes around the port where you can sit and people-watch. But for a more memorable day, you might want to rent a car and drive to the Gulf of Gera. It's a beautiful place, perhaps an hour from Mytilene. A bit longer drive would take you to Plomari, where there's an ouzo factory to tour, and a nice beach. Once you see how beautiful Lesvos is, I suspect you will be returning some day.
