I'm taking Rick's E. European tour. The last day of our tour is in Lake Bled (30 minutes from Slovenia airport). What would be the best mode of transportation from Lake Bled to Prague? Cheapest and fastest?
Hi Kim
I am taking the E Europe tour also. Czech Air has a nonstop flight from Ljubljana to Prague. It takes about 1.5 hours. It appears the train takes 11 hours so looks like flying is the fastest. If you haven't made your flight reservations yet, you might look at flying into Prague and out of Lju to another airport. I am flying Seattle to Amsterdam to Prague and Lju to Ams to Sea but I know that you can do the same from London, Paris or Frankfurt.
Hope this helps.
Regardless of the cost, take Czech Air. You don't want to spend 11 hours on a slow train through that part of the world. There is not much to see out of the train window.

Leslie has a great suggestion about using another airport. We are using London as our hub, got really great fares RT from PHX. Are going over early, spending time touring Europe, and ending up with the June 21st Eastern Europe Tour, then flying back to London for a little R&R before returning to the US. The fare, including booking fee, from Ljubljana to London on Easyjet was under 40 eruo. That was a deal we just couldn't pass up.
Best of luck, and have a great trip.
click4sky.com/en shows a flight from Prague to Ljubljana (return) for about US $89. I am going to take this flight in July from Prague and just throw away my return portion of the ticket.
For comparision, you might look at flights from the Klagenfurt, Austria airport. It also is easily accessible from Bled and may have more flight options.
