kusadasi private driver

Is it easy to find a private driver in the cruise port in Kusadasi? - we are interested in going to Priene Miletus and Didyma or a combination of these. Thank you

Gayle, My husband and I did a cruise 2 years ago, and one of the ports we stopped in was Kusadasi. We were interested in seeing Ephesus, but also wanted to see some of the other sites in the area. We booked a private tour with a company called Ephesus Shuttle - www.ephesusshuttle.com. They were very easy to work with. I booked everything in advance on-line and through e-mail. We were provided with a private tour guide, who was extremely knowledgeable and spoke great English. They also provided a small van with a driver that was very comfortable. They have several pre-packaged tours of the area, but they were very accommodating and worked with us to determine what we wanted to see and made adjustments accordingly. Christine

I just did this tour with Ekol Tours as a shore excursion. It is an interesting trip, which you can do with an independent company, Our ship only offered 2 of the cities. There are plenty of taxis by the port if you don't want a guide- but we thought she was great.

We were in Kusadasi a few days ago. We wanted only to visit Ephesus, two people, three hours at the sight, no shopping, payment at the conclusion. The first cab I approached quoted us 150 euro. Right. As we walked away from the ship and into town, the quotes ranged down to 120 e, 100 e, and when we heard 60 euro or 120 TL we took it. All went fine until the end when the driver asked for our agreed rate of 150 TL. I simply said no, that was not what you told us. No moaning, flailing, or cursing...just a look of sheepish resignation on the cabbie's face. It was actually about the most pathetic attempt to rip us off we'd ever experienced and would have been laughable except that I was fairly disgusted and he knew exactly why. Should you choose to arrange your own, I'd suggest putting some distance between you and the first drivers closest to the ship, clearly specify your desired itinerary, and hold firm to the rate agreed.
