Kudsadasi, Turkey

My cruise ship will be landing me in Kudsadasi, Turkey. From there, do you recommend going to Ephesus? What is an easy way to get to Ephesus without breaking the bank? Does a bus drop you directly to where the meat is?

You can also always take a Dolmus from the town center out to Ephesus. These are minibuses that will take you out to the ruins the cheapest, possible way. Good way to experience the 'local' atmosphere as well. It does require a 1 or 2 kilometer hike up the road to Ephesus, however, but that is kind of nice.

Faisal, a helpful website is cruisecritic.com. On the orange band at the top, you can click onto "ports" and then onto your port of interest. You will then find a lot of the kind of information you seek.

Hi Faisal - I've been lucky to have been in Kusadasi each year for the past 30 years - Have many good friends there. The shopping is fantastic - prices are very good and the merchants love to negotiate over an apple tea.
For Ephesus it is better to take a cab and, if you have another couple, the price will be very fair - verify with the driver before getting in. As opposed to the ship's tour which is pricy and takes too long - Doesn't allow you any time to walk the markets and shops upon returning to Kusadasi.

A bit more info. on Kusadasi - The docks are very close to town - so, you walk a few hundred yards and the town center and many cabs are right there. And Ephesus is important to see - John The Baptist walked the streets of Ephesus and the project is quite something to see.

In Ephesus, about half-way through, there's an additional exhibit, of the more wealthy homes of Ephesus. It contains some beautiful mosaics. There is an additional fee for this, payable at the entrance of this exhibit. I forget the exact cost, but it was very close to the fee for the main entrance. It was definitely well worth the extra fee. To me, it was a must-see.
