Krakow - salt mines

Have read some info about where the bus to the salt mines departs from in Krakow, have a few pick up locations and lots of contradictory information on this subject. If anybody has travelled to Krakow recently and taken the bus to the salt mines, please let me know where the bus stops in Krakow? Also, if anybody knows the bus schedule that would be a great help too, since I only plan on spending half a day visiting the salt mines.

Thanks.

The contradictory info may be because you can take a regular city bus which goes to Wieliczka(where the salt mine is) by a rather circuitous route with many stops along the way; or you can take a mini-bus which goes more directly, but still has several stops. You can catch either at the Dworzek Glowny - the main station for trains, intercity buses and mini-buses.(City buses don't terminate at the main station, but there's a stop right next to it) I would suggest a mini-bus because they get you there quicker and run more frequently-maybe every 15 to 20 minutes. You can ask at the front desk of your hotel if there is a closer stop that is on the Wieliczka route.

Have a great trip!

i went to Krakow last year, i asked at the tourist information office, the bus starts from a side street facing the shopping centre near the station, the buses are fairly regular and leave Krakow anti clockwise on the ring road and drop you at the bottom of the street from the salt mine, you can get the tickets on the bus from a machine as you get on, the only problem we had was the translation to english button was not working on the machine but fortunatly a little old woman came to our rescue and showed us how to work it.

If you're traveling with others simply take a taxi. The mines just on the outskirts of the city, and there's a freeway that goes directly to the mine; it's a very quick trip. They only do English language tours at certain times so make sure you time it right.
