Krakow hotel, B&B, hostel?

Staying in Krakow for just one night and want to be convenient to main train station. Would like a safe, clean, friendly, inexpensive lodging for two ladies and one young adult. Interested in also booking a bus tour to Auschwitz (trying to consider tour vs. just using our rail pass and taking tour at Auschwitz). Thanks!

Just outside the door of the Krakow train station, a little to the right, about twenty meters is the Andels Hotel. It is very handy, has a great breakfast, but is fairly expensive. We stayed four nights and the cost was 3,352.60 of their money, or 760 euros. There are some English speaking staff and you will get great help finding your way around. The price breaks down to 837,33 per night plus 66,99 taxes of their money. One night was 145 euros and three nights were 205 each. That's a lot of money, but its handy. When we traveled through eastern and central Europe there were so many different kinds of money we just referred to it as "their money" and didn't bother trying to convert it to anything else.

I have stayed at the college dorms at the Jagellonian college in Krakow- Hotel Studenckie. The college offers several places that you can stay as guests and will list them on their website. The rooms are clean, very reasonable but very simple college dorms with an electric kettle. I stayed there several years ago with my 83 yr old mom and sister and enjoyed it immensely. They even have some restaurants and cafeteria inside the building. There is a grocery store next to the university where you can buys things to have in your room. We even made soups, coffee and tea in our room since we had the electric kettle. The Hotel Studenckie only offers rooms beginning in July 2103. This year in late June we are staying at the Bydowska Guest House (part of the University)and will be going to Auschwitz as well. You can get there by train or bus and the university usually has posters listing the tours. Good luck and hope this helps.
