we will be flying into krakow airport on wednesday from berlin tegel. has anyone recently flown into the krakow airport and taken the train to the old town? i have done some research but am interested to learn from a first-hand traveller: is there really free bus service from the airport to the train station (close to the airport)? how much is train fare? how long does it take to the old town? etc. etc. thanks.
olivia
There is a free bus, but it is also only about a quarter mile walk. If I recall, the train is about 20 minutes, and the fare was around 10 zloty, or about $3.30. These two figures can easily be found via a Google search.
The train station is at the edge of the Old Town, call it up on Google Maps.
thank you, larry. you just confirmed what i had read about it.
I had the same experience as Larry. Took the bus to the train station (a very short ride) and bought my ticket on the train. I believe that it was 12 zloty when I was there in May and I think I saw recently on tripadvisor that the fare was going up.
laura, so we can buy the ticket from the train conductor? thanks.
You can buy ticket at station or on train.
laura and larry, thanks, arrived safely at our bed and breakfast. from the airport, we walked to the train stop, took the train for 15 zloty one way or 23 zl round trip (we bought the round trip), got off at the central station, walked thru their modern galleria, continued on to the Old Town after asking directions.
