Kotor, Montenegro

We will be spending 1 day in Kotor and have never been. Can anyone give us some suggestions as to what we should see and do? Your help is much appreciated.

I suggest you do a search as this same question has been answered a few weeks ago in this section of the forum.

Are you driving in by car? If so, you should drive around the bay of Kotor, one of the most beautiful drives. You can stop in Perast-it's a town on the bay of Kotor, around 15 minutes from Kotor. It has a couple of islands big enough to hold a church that you can take a boat to see. Kotor has a produce market every morning that is cool. Also, Mount Lovcen is about an 1 1/2 hours above Kotor by car, that gives you great views of the bay. Near Mount Lovcen is a town called Njegusi, that is famous for their prsut or dried ham. Kotor is a great walled city with cobbled walk ways and small alleys great for wondering around or having a drink. There are also some beautiful churches that you can visit, you'll pass by as you walk around the town. Above the town are the old walls, if you like hiking.

Thanks very much for your reply Erich. We are cruising so no driving. Are there any buses to get us to the top of Mount Kotor?

Thanks Raymond. I always rent a car, so i dont know much about public transport to Mount Lovcen. However, there are always cabs available in Kotor, and i think it wouldnt be too expensive for the ride, i'm guessing 50 euros or so. But there may be tour buses, i'm not sure.
