In sept we will be on isle korcula for 3 days coming from rovinj enroute to durbrovnik. we're travelling by car and any suggestions on where to take the ferry en route to korcula? should we leave our car at orebic and take the foot ferry over to korcula, where we'll be for three days. tx, nick
You can take your car on the ferry too and park it in Korcula. I took a bus but saw cars on the ferry. Can you easily find out the cost difference between passengers only vs. with car, and go from there?
Nicholas, if you are planning to spend your time only in Korcula vicinity and don't have a desire to see some of the more remote beaches or towns then it would be more convenient to leave the car in Orebic. Finding parking in Orebic at the dock for an extended period may be easier if its still crowded in September. The car ferry goes to Vela Luka(10-12 minutes) and then you have to drive south a few kilometers to Korcula town. However, if you leave the car in Orebic there is a regular passenger boat that runs many times per day directly to Korcula town itself. This is also convenient if you want to take a quick trip during stay back the mainland. Also, I did see parking on Korcula town, but when we were there in June it was packed and cars were parking farther away on the main island side of town. Also, if you are interested a place to see you may want to stop and look at is Ston (about 45 minutes south on the way to Dubrovnik). It has a wall climbing up/down the hillside that is interesting to walk.
