We will be visiting Korcula for the first time. Anyone have any suggestions what to see/do?
Many thanks in advance.

If you are driving yourself, i would stop by Ston on the way to Korcula and check out the walls. I think they said the wall around Ston was the 2nd largest in the world. We only had a few hours in Korcula and visited the former home of Marco Polo. The highlight for us was having a drink in the beautiful town square and just enjoying the atmosphere.

Glad to hear your visiting Korcula Raymond. Depends upon the length of time you are here and what your interests are. Here's a few suggestions:- Korcula Old medieval Town-Visit the small churches, St Marks cathedral, town & icon museum Wine Tasting-Try Grk in Lumbarda, only place the grape is grown & Posip in Cara or Smokvica. Join a wine tour or look out for signs in these villages pointing to vineyards where you can try & buy. Beaches-Head to Racisce and go to Vaja or Samograd or Pupnatksa Luka near Pupnat. Note, most beaches are pebbly on Korcula, if you want sand go to Lumbarda. Nature & activity-Hire a bike & cycle to the fishing village of Racisce, great views along the scenic coastal road there;hire a kayak and paddle out to the islets in the Korcula archipelago (or go by taxi boat from the port);walk to Kocije in Zrnovo, interesting rocks and wonderful panoramic views on the way there Relax-Completely agree the best thing about Korcula is to soak up the atmosphere.Take time drinking coffee, enjoy leisurely evening meals of fresh fish & seafood with local wine. Evening-Watch a performance of the moreska, attend a concert of classical music or the Klappa groups singing in the cathedral. Food/drink-Try the local wine and "rakija" (fruit brandies); try fresh fish or seafood; try cukarin cakes (speciality of the island); try burek (strictly Bosnian but eaten as a staple here); try peka (meat cooked slowly under a metal lid over coals) You can also hire a care or scooter (if you aren't driving here) and take a self-guided tour of the island, stopping off at the small towns & villages. Oh and be sure to watch the sun rise and set, you get the best of both here, truly memorable.
I could write more but fear I will run out of character space, so all there's left to say is enjoy Korcula!
