July in Prague- are accomodations with AC necessary?

I am headed to Europe for my honeymoon in July, including 4 days in Prague. I've noticed that several of the more modern hotels boast that they have AC, so I'm assuming some of the more quaint, historic B&B's or recommendations in Rick's book may not.

For those of you who've traveled to Prague in July, did you stay somewhere with AC? If not, was it cool enough in the evening to sleep comfortably?

I'd also love any recommendations of fabulous spots to stay- we'd like to get an authentic experience not too far from the heart of the city, but in a place where the history & culture of Prague can be experienced.

Thanks!

Our experience with Prague in July is hot with AC
a necessity to sleep. I would suggest Hotel Julian
found in Rick's book which has a number of air
conditioned rooms.

Get a place with AC. You'll really appreciate a cool oasis at the end of a hectic day! Prague can be very hot and muggy July - September, but very beautiful at the same time. I visit every year with my Czech hubby but we make sure to avoid that time of the year like the plague, since most Czech homes and pensions do not have airconditioning or screens on windows to keep the pests out. I remember in a September trip wishing it would rain overnight to bring down the heat and humidity - keeping the windows shut because there where no screens to keep the pests out and hunting down all those blood sucking mosquitos before going to bed every night.
Its peak time, crowded with tourists from all over the world. Some of them not smelling too nice. But what a people watching paradise it is!

Another vote for AC in Prague in the summer... it's pretty hot and a nice cool hotel room is comforting especially sleeping.
