Izmir to Selçuk (Turkey)

As far as I know, there are no busses that go directly from the Izmir airport to Selcuk. The Izmir otogar is way out of your way--it's in completely the opposite direction to Selcuk, so you should avoid that option if possible. As of two years ago, there was train service between the airport and Selcuk, although fairly infrequent. And there are taxis, of course, though the cost of a cab isn't far off what it would cost to rent a car. Not far outside the airport you can catch a dolmus to Selcuk, but again, as of the last trip I made there two years ago, dolmusses were not permitted to go all the way to the airport. Sorry that I can't be more specific, but you might check out the Turkish railway website for more up to date information. It's at www.tcdd.gov. tr.

The train schedule for getting from Izmir's A. Menderes Airport to Selcuk is here: http://www.tcdd.gov.tr/Upload/Files/ContentFiles/2010/bolgesel/basmanesokeaydin.htm You can see that trains leave the airport at 08:31, 10:45, 14:45, 15:54, 18:00, 19:30 and arrive in Selcuk approx. an hour later.

It's the first one, highlighted in Green with the route in red: BASMANE - (SÖKE) - AYDIN - NAZILLI Airport departure times are also in red. It takes about an hour to reach Selcuk.

Lee, thanks. I understand the time table fine. I'm just wondering how to pull up that info myself. When I look under the pedestrian trains tabs and search for the train line I cannot locate this particular timetable. I guess I need to know specifically the name of the train line.
