itinerary for Turkey for 2 weeks

How does this sound for a 14 day itinerary for a family of three (child age 7)in Turkey, beginning March 19:

6 nights - Istanbul, fly to Dalaman, rent car, drive to Kas
2 or 3 nights - Kas and area, drive to Antalya
1 or 2 nights - Antalya, fly to Cappodocia via Istanbul
4 nights - Goreme, hire guide, fly to Istanbul and then USA

Last night we made the decision to give up going to Ephesus. It just created too tight of a schedule with too much time in airports or on busses.

Suggestions about 3 nights Kas/1 Antalaya or 2 kas/2 Antalya?

I would recommend the overnight bus from Antalya to Cappadocia rather than the flight through Istanbul. That would be 3 flights for you in 14 days, with this one taking you through 3 airports. I think you would find the bus trip more relaxing and would be better use of your time. The buses are very comfortable and inexpensive. You maximize your trip by staying a full day in Antalya, leaving late in the evening and waking up in Goreme ready to go. You can sleep on these buses, even I did... You should experience the Turkish buses, they are a delight.

Rich, so funny you should mention taking the overnight bus from Antalya to Nevsehir/Goreme. That's just what we were thinking as well. Thanks for helping us firm up the itinerary. We're also leaning towards not making any hotel reservations for our 4 days between Dalaman and Antalya - that way we can decide where to stay and for how long, just so we end up in Antalya by day four. I'm guessing it's not a problem since we're traveling the week before Easter and in that region March 25 -29.

From Dalaman to Antalya without firm plans would be just fine. I would recommend a stop in Fethiye after landing in Dalaman, it's close by. It has a great seaside promenade, nice pedestrian shopping area, good restaurants, friendly locals, etc. It's worth a look.
