Itinerary for Prague

We will be in Prague from March 29-April 10th. I'm looking for some type of suggested itinerary for time there... mostly for trips outside of the city during that time. Our daughter is studying in Prague, so looking for many day trips, even if it is overnight once or twice. thanks for your suggestions.

Your daughter may have been there already, but Cesky Krumlov leaps to mind. You can get mini-van tours there, but I think it would be fun to spend the night, when it's most atmospheric. Have a great trip, Ross in Denver

Rick Steves has good suggestions for day trips from Prague in his book: Prague & the Czech Republic.

Jo-Ann, If you're travelling with a Kindle, iPad, iPod Touch or Netbook / Laptop, you may find it helpful to download the E-Book version of the Prague & Czech Republic Guidebook. I did that when I visited Prague a few months ago, and found it very helpful for reference and tour planning during the trip. Of course, you could also pack along the print version of that Guidebook. The 2012 version will be released on February 21st. As the others mentioned, Cesky Krumlov would be a good possibility for a day trip. You can either travel on your own, or take one of the Bus tours from Prague (details in the Guidebook). I had planned to take a Bus tour, but ran out of time so that will have to wait for the next trip. I did take Segway tours in Prague, and had a great time! I enjoyed the first one so much, I booked another one immediately after. Sure beats walking up the hill to Prague Castle! Happy travels!

Try Kutna Hora. Easy day trip. Careful of the silver mine tour if you are clustraphobic, tall or XL. Great ossuary, bridge, cathedral and several churches.

Dresden is 2 1/2 hrs away & definitely worth at least a day, if not an overnight visit.
