We're spending time in Turkey this June. We are thinking about going from Cesme to the island of Chios. Would like some advice about staying a night in Cesme-any ideas of where to stay? Advice about Chios? Sounds very unique and welcoming, would 5-6 days there be too much? Want to see the smaller villages. We typically enjoy Rick's style of travel and are not looking for fancy shopping or night life. After Chios we will fly to Athens for a couple of days.

I've not been to Chios, but can highly recommend its neighboring island of Lesvos. You can get a ferry to Lesvos from Ayvalik; I believe it's a daily ferry (except for Sunday) at 18:00. You can easily spend 5-6 days on Lesvos. It's a large island, with several interesting towns and few tourists. One of our favorite vacations ever was the 3 weeks we spent traveling around Lesvos. We're going back for 2 weeks this September. I have lots of information if you're interested.
