Howdy, Any experience getting from Istanbul to Odessa? Or why a person should do that?

Wayner, We looked into this. We have been both places on two different journeys. It appears that the ferries from Istnabul to Odessa do not run any more. We found that flying from Istabul north is the best option, and then to Bucuresti. There may be flights directly to Odessa. Look at the Aerosflit website. Odessa is a wonderful place to visit. If you get serious about spinding some time there I can give you articulars.
