Istanbul to Greece, how to get there and back

Hi, We are looking to revisiting Istanbul the end of March for 10 days and then going into Greece for another 10 to 14 days. Are there ferries that run out of Istanbul? Do the trains still run in Greece? (Heard they were canceled) Or is a flight the best? Does Ryan or some one like that do puddle jumps? wayne iNWI

Fly. It's quick, easy, and usually cheap. It's about an hour flight and if you book early enough on Aegean, Olympic or Turkish Airlines you should be able to get a decent price on a flight.

We flew round trip from Istanbul to Athens via Turkish Air. After looking at the options this worked out best for us. Nice flight.

There are no ferries from Istanbul to any of the Greek islands. As has been suggested, fly to Athens and then make your way out to the islands. Aegean Airlines has some very reasonable prices for both domestic and international flights in March. There is no train from Istanbul into Greece but you can take a bus from Istanbul to Alexandroupolis and then a train to Thessaloniki and another train to Athens from Thessaloniki. The bad news is that you'd spend way too much time getting there.
