Istanbul or area, guide for one day

We are scheduled for Rick's Turkey tour this Spring and will arrive in Istanbul two days before the tour. Any suggestions for a one day guided tour which would not conflict with Rick's tour. We wish to avoid a similar situation three years ago in Prague where we used a guide service from Rick's book prior to the Eastern Europe tour, told the Service and then the guide we wanted to avoid Rick's tour points, then were led on mostly the same tour as Rick's for ten hours. Thank you in advance for your positive suggestions.

"Tom" keeps posting to this site here advertising websites selling tours. It's against the rules here to post ads, but "Tom" doesn't seem to care. Buyer very much beware...

Thank you for your note. I suspected that when I saw the spelling of "program". I hope our message was clear enough to hope for help not to repeat our Prague experience.
We may just use Rick's Istanbul book and do our own thing trying to avoid the stuff that is mentioned in the "Turkey ETBD".
We appreciate your post.

We will be in Turkey in April and have been doing a lot of research.

Rick's Istanbul book is excellent and quite honestly when/if you read you will find that you could do IST on your own.

We have used a variety of other resources for the research...I would suggest DK Top 10 IST book and TurkeyTravelPlanner.com

We spent four days in Istanbul in September prior to a cruise, using Rick's Istanbul book exclusively for all of our touring. Istanbul is very easy to tour on your own because all of the major tourist sights are very close together (other than the Chora Church)and everything is labeled in English as well as Turkish. Find out what your Turkey tour covers in Istanbul and then just do the other things not covered which are set out in the book.

You will love this marvelous city.
