My daughter (17) and I have about 5 nights to spend in/around Istanbul in late June. Any recommendations for hotels? Is it better to spend all 5 nights in Istanbul or are there nearby towns that would not eat up too much travel time? It's our first trip to Turkey.
hi Nancy, in Istanbul I stayed at Hotel Sultan Hill near the Blue Mosque based on advice from travelers on this board, and enjoyed it very much. Simple but comfortable, good breakfast, roof terrace, at a very reasonable price.
I agree! Hotel Sultan Hill is the place to stay in Istanbul.
When we were in Istanbul in March, we stayed at the Sarnic Hotel. It is located just behind the Blue Mosque. Mehmet is an awesome hotelier. They also have a cooking (and eating) class which was a wonderful experience.
Thank you all for the great ideas. I am also considering the Empress Zoe.
You are correct in staying in the Sultanahmet and you will enjoy the energy of this area with the historical sights. Your daughter will love the Empress Zoe. There are other good choices such but I think you
have found "just the one".
If I had a bigger budget I might have chosen the Empress Zoe for my trip!
