Istanbul Airport Hotels

Does anyone have a recommendation for a reasonably priced airport hotel? My husband and I will be returning to Istanbul airport from Izmir after a Rick Steves' Tour. We need to stay one more night in Istabul before our plane leaves the next day. I was thinking we could check into an airport hotel, take a cab in and out of the city, return to our airport hotel, and fly out the next morning around 11am. I would like for the property to have free shuttle to the hotel and back to the airport. Or do you think we should just stay in the Old Town for the night? We will be paying round trip for cab regardless of what option we choose. I just don't want to have to pay for transportation from and to the airport hotel. thanks

There are several airport hotels in Istanbul that fit your criteria and I believe they are reasonably priced. Since you are staying just one night, I would assume the price will not make much of a difference. Here is what to do Go to http://search.cheapfaresdeals.com/
then search Istanbul Airport Hotels. There are several there that you will find. My preference though is Renaissance Polat Istanbul Hotel based on the reviews and the price point. Have a safe trip!

I stayed at the Holiday Inn near the airport and had the evening to go back to Old Town. They did have a shuttle and I think it was free. They dropped us off and would return to the same point to pick us up a few hours later. However, we got so engrossed in our last night's visit that we could not remember or find the place he dropped us off... when we finally found it we had missed the shuttle so we took a cab back to the hotel...don't remember the cost but had we paid attention it would have been free.

You could try booking.com- they have several hotels in the airport area. Alternatively, maybe you could take the public transport from and to the airport; that'll take you right to the old part of Istanbul. It's easy to do. You can ask your guide when you're in Istanbul for the start of your tour. Have a great tour! Turkey is beautiful and Istanbul's my all time favourite city.

11am flight is late enough so you can stay in the old town or anywhere on the tram line. the airport hotel is over priced, and other hotels near the airport are all in non-touristy area so you don't have anything to do in the evening.

Stay in Old Town, do last minute shopping, snaps some final pics, have a nice dinner and have your hotel arrange for a taxi pick up in the morning. Nights shots of the Blue Mosque are stellar. No muss. No fuss.
