is budapest worth a visit

I am going to be traveling all over europe for 2 months. The sights in Budapest seem ok but not great. Was curious if it would be more worth my while to perhaps spend an extra day in Prague, Vienna or take a trip to Cesky Krumlov to cut down on some travel and see more unique places than what Budapest has to offer

I loved Budapest. Go to the Szechenyi baths as Rick recommends. The opera was inexpensive and lovely, and the art museum had great stuff, too. I'd go back in a minute!

I loved Budapest as well. Just a day to see Andrassy and the Nazi/Revolution history is worth it IMO.

Budapest was great. As you probably know, there is the Buda side of the river and the Pest side of the river. We preferred the Pest side - very cosmopolitan and pedestrial. There is also a subway on the Pest side - I don't recall if it connects to Buda.

Budapest is very nice especially the baths there. But if you like small towns, we loved Cesky Krumlov, went to both last summer, but wished we had more time in Cesky.

Few people are going to say Budapest is not worth seeing. However, your question seems to ask for a comparison of it to Vienna, etc. In my opinion there is considerably more in Vienna than in Budapest, if you are trying to do a side by side comparison. Perhaps in your planning it will make a difference whether you have to travel "out of your way" to see Budapest. If you are going to be in the Budapest area anyway, that would make a difference--then certainly you would want to see it.

Been there..... done that........ am going again. We really like Budapest. Check out the central market. Take a river cruise. Have fun!

Considering that you are visiting other Eastern European cities, Budapest is a must because it has not florished like it's contemporaries. There is such a stark contrast in the sites, people and general feeling as compared to the more "touristy" Vienna and Prague. You really feel the effects of Communism in this city. Plus, you can eat and drink a lot cheaper than anywhere else, which is always a plus.

Budapest is well worth visiting and easy to get to from Vienna. Vienna is a beautiful city and Budapest is still a little rough, but great history and window into former "eastern europe".

We were there for day and half in early June. Wished we had planned at least 2 1/2 days there. With 2 months in Europe, Budapest is a must see IMO.
