I know that you need an international driver's permit when renting a car in Greece, but must you have one when renting an ATV? I am planning to rent one on the island of Santorini. Thanks for any advice given, Shirley

Although you may find someone to rent you an ATV even if you don't have an IDP with you, if you get in an accident and can't produce one you will be in violation of Greek Law, and consequently you will be in trouble with the police and any insurance you will have paid for will be invalid since you will have been driving illegally. You might even be detained, or at least forced to stay on the island, until you come up with the money to pay for all the damages. Pick up an IDP at your local AAA office for $15, no test or membership required. Take 2 passport photos with you to avoid a photo charge.
