We are a family of 3 looking for budget accommodations in Mykonos Town. We usually like Rick Steves type places. Any suggestions?
Depending on what your definition of "inexpensive" is it may be difficult to find budget accommodations in Mykonos Town. We too like Rick Steves style places and when we visited Mykonos 5 years ago managed to eventually find a spot but it was not inexpensive and there was no heat. The 2 nights we were there (in early October) it was cold and wet so we were quite chilly in an expensive room. Sorry, we don't remember the name of it. Good luck with this search.
Sasha - We looked through the Fodors and Lonely Planet recommendations as well as TripAdvisor. We found and booked Hotel Carbonaki. Not sure of your budget or when you are going, but we're paying €90 for a twin room for a couple of date in the first week of September.
Thanks. The Carbonaki does look good. Unfortunately, like a lot of places, they charge a lot more for a triple. When we are going it is 136 and 170 euros.
Hi We too have booked into the Hotel Carbonaki in Mykonos for 6 nights in September 2011. I saw on this message board that someone was going in March 2011, could they please give me some feedback on the hotel. I have read all the reviews and was very happy with my choice, however a reader on the trip advisor forum has advised me not to stay there. They say the hotel is badly run, the bookings are mixed up and run by children and that the hotel is very very noisy.
We are young adventurous 60/70 so like some comfort in our hotels. Plus as my husband has a hip problem a hotel with lots of stairs is a problem which is why we chose this hotel. Anyone who has actually stayed there recently and can advise more about their experience would be greatly appreciated
