My husband and I are going from Munich to Austria to Czech Republic (Cesky Krumlov & Praque) to Vienna to Budapest in October and using public transportation. I have figured out the DB Bahn(German Rail) site, but I cannot get the Austrian rail site OBB to give me any prices. I would like to have some idea on how much my transportation costs are going to be. It gives me an itinerary, but no prices so I think I just must be doing something wrong. Also, with Austria, Czech and Hungary is there a discount for booking in advance, as it is with DB Bahn.

I went from Budapest to Vienna to Prague in May 2010. I got a prepaid ticket online on OBB (I don't remember how it worked) for €29 from vienna to Prague. There were no discounts buying in Hungary - had to buy it in Budapest and it was 8680 forint to Vienna. Try the Austria forum at tripadvisor.com - they may have details on using the OBB site.
