how to get to Hydra on time

Hi everyone,
We are planning on visiting Hydra for 2 nights on our trip to Greece. We are landing at the airport at 2:00 PM Aug 4, 2010 and are thinking on taking the express bus to Piraeus Port. Should take about 1-1/2. Here's where's I'm running into a problem. I can't seem to find any ferry schedules that far out, which is understandable, so I don't know if scheduling will be a problem. I've visited the Hellenic Seaways website and it appears that the last ferry they offer is at 5:00 PM. If my flight is a bit delayed, or I can't find the ticket agent office to pick up my reserved tickets quickly, am I running it too tight. I keep reading that there are numerous ferries to Hydra, but am having trouble finding anything online. What's the most efficient way of doing this? Does anyone know what the earliest I can reserve a ferry?

Thanks

Take a look at the ferry schedule for May for Piraeus>Hydra. You'll see that there are numerous daily departures. The departures for August will be at least as numerous if not even more frequent. You can safely assume that there will be a ferry available after your arrival at the port. Once the August timetables are made 'official' you can go online to purchase your tickets from the Amphitrion Holidays website and pick up your tickets when you first arrive, right at the airport, from their travel desk in the Arrivals Hall between Exit/Entry doors 2&3. I strongly urge you to do this so you don't have to deal with the August chaos at the ferry port. It'll cost you a couple of extra euro for the booking but the ticket prices are fixed. No one knows yet when August schedules will be available so you'll just have to keep an eye out on the ferry schedule websites so you know when the timetables are available. They could be a couple of months out.

Lee,

thanks so much for the info. As I mentioned before, had trouble finding any sites with schedules.
