How to get from Prague to Italy - cheaply

It was all worked out until WizzAir canceled our flight. We had scheduled 2 nights in Prague before meeting up with our kids in Cinque Terre. All other flights that day are very expensive, but I did find a Ryanair flight from Bratislava.

So would it be worthwhile to take a bus or train from Prague to Bratislava and briefly see the city before flying out? Or should we forfeit our tickets into Prague? The cost of our trip is rising at a scary rate, but I want to see as much as possible as I don't know when we'll be back.

What exactly do you mean by forfeiting your tickets into Prague? What is the cost and what is the alternative that you have looked at?

We booked non-refundable tickets from Holland to Prague on WizzAir. Our kids are staying there with friends. We have have visited Holland twice before and would like to see something new, but not if it will be more trouble than it's worth. If necessary, we could probably get a cheap Ryanair flight from Holland to Italy instead of going to Prague.

Ryan Air also flies from Brussels Charleroi. Student Agency buses are great and go from Amsterdam, they are very clean, and with wc/snacks, and a "bus attendant". They do a professional job. Decent people on the buses, very safe.

I think you were suggesting SkyEurope? Yes, but I have to be in Cinque Terre by evening, and their only flights get in too late. We decided it was going to be too much trouble and will just stay in Holland the extra two nights. Too bad Wizzair won't refund for our flight into Prague.

Thanks for your help.

I know that SkyEurope flies from Prague to Rome and Venice (Treviso) because we just returned. Be warned that SkyEurope is also notorious for cancelling flights. Luckily ours was not cancelled.

Depending on how much you have paid for your Prague tickets, I would go ahead and see Prague. Then if you haven't found any alternatives, take the train or bus to Bratislava and fly from there.
