How on earth do i get from Ljubjana to Venice??

hi guys

im hoping someone out there can help

im currently travelling around europe,i have stumbled accross a problem, on the 12.07.08 i checkout of my hotel in bled and was to travel to venice via ljubjana, i have just found out the only train to venice now is a night train coming from budapest that leaves ljubjana at 2.22 AM and arrives in venice at 7.00am or so, is there any other way to get there?? i am quite desperate , i have paid my accom in venice (very expensive) and need to get there for my flight out, i cant seem to find info online tho, is there buses?? also i found a current thread about this exact problem but i accidently closed it, now i cant find it again, re going via gorica??? not sure how to best arrange this
also i will be going from split to plitvice lakes by bus,
after plitvice im going to bled for 4 nights,to get from plitvice to bled do i need to go to zagreb, catch train from zagreb to ljubjana then bus ljubjana to bled??
can i somehow go to bled from plitvice??

many thanks for any assistance you may be able to offer,

My Boyfriend and I had the exact same problem about a month ago, arrived at Ljubljana and found that the direct day service to Venice stopped running in early april.

The way we did it was to get the bus to trieste (trst in slovenian) and then get one of the regular trains from trieste to venice. The only problem is there is only one trieste bus from ljubljana and it leaves very early (6.30ish) so you may not be able to get there in time from Bled. The other option we found was to go by train and change in Villach, Austria. There may be other options which don't involve going via Ljubljana as well.

Check this website for Slovenian bus services

good luck, I'm sure it will be fine, once my boyfriend and I figured out a route we had no problems at all.

Vikkie, Try looking at the train route Lesce-Bled to Villach, Austria and then Villach to Venice. You can also go Ljubljana-Villach-Venice.

I did the opposite route recently after they cancelled the direct daytime train between Venice and Ljubljana.
