How long should I stay in Santorini? I am just looking to relax and explore the island. I have heard that the beaches are pretty rocky, but that there are hiking paths. I am an outdoors type person so would love to just walk around. Any advice would be great thanks! Or also if anyone did any boat excursions from the island too I would be interested to know about those. Thanks!

I go for 4 weeks at a time, but it that's too long there's plenty to see and do in a week if you have the time. Santorini is mostly about relaxing and enjoying the scenery. There are hikes along the cliffs as well as between Perissa and Kamari Beaches where you'll pass by Ancient Thera a the summit. There is a half- and full-day boat trip into the caldera with stops at the volcano/hotsprings, Therassia and Amoudi below Oia. The best swimming on the island is at the end of the seawall that begins on the wharf at Amoudi.

We loved Santorini and stayed in Oia! We took the bus from Fira and our hotel was just past the bus stop. We have never slept better than in Oia! In the mornings we would walk over to the Greek bakery and buy breakfast. We took the caldera boat tour, swam in the warm sea, and walked to the top of the volcano one day. We took a bus tour around the island. The third day there we hiked all over wherever it seemed interesting to explore and then late that day took a catamaran to Crete. Each night we enjoyed dinner and the sunset at Oia. We can't wait to go back!
