One of the nicest hotels i have ever stayed in was the Hotel Ventana which is about a block off the Old Town square just behind Tyn Church.

Have your looked at Rick Steves' suggestions? (I found his Prague book excellent, so I highly recommend getting it for your trip, not just for hotel recommendations). What is your budget? (in actual currency - "moderate" or "reasonably priced" mean different things to different people) For one list of recommendations (skewing to the less expensive, as the name indicates), look at EuroCheapo's Prague Page. When you scroll down to "Hotels By Neighborhood," picking a neighborhood gives you not only the recommended hotels there, but also an overview of the neighborhood itself. I find this very helpful, even if I don't end up using their specific listings.

Tony, I'd highly recommend the Green Garland Pension. It provides somewhat "basic" accommodations (ie: no TV in the rooms or Elevator) but the prices are very reasonable and the staff are wonderful. As I recall, free Wi-Fi is provided in the rooms. It's in a great location only a few minutes from either the Charles Bridge or the Old Town and there are some nice restaurants nearby. Happy travels!

We stayed in the Hotel Hastal last August. Close to tourist sites, good breakfast, reasonable price. We recommend it.

As Harold notes, it really does depend on your budget, and also, how close you want to be to the sites you are interested in. We stayed at Arcadia Residence this past October for 4 nights and would highly recommend it. There's a reason it's Prague's number 1 hotel on Tripadvisor. This is a small owner operated place (14 rooms I think), very intimate, and within walking distance of Charles Bridge, the Old Town and the New Town, and close to tons of restaurants. It is difficult to book as its very popular, so if you are interested, book as soon as you know your dates.

i was there in september. was in love with my hotel!! some days pried myself out to see the sites b/c i was comfortable just lounging in the hotel!! Hotel Maximillian. SUPER friendly/helpful staff. Very comfy room...bed was the best, terrace with nice view and they even offer you a goldfish for company if you want. oh..and the bose docking station for my ipod. The breakfast buffet...don't know where to begin. i travel a lot. many hotels. many breakfasts. but this was probably the best. location is great...less than 5 min walk from Old Town Square. If i ever go back to prague, i am staying there without a second thought.
