Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Hastal? What is a recommended place to stay? We want to be near the old town and bridge areas for sightseeing.

We stayed at Hastal in summer 2010, and were quite satisfied. It is a bargain at its price. Quiet location but close to everything. We walked as far as through Vysehrad without any issues.

Location is important. Hotel Hastal is in Old Town about 10 minutes walk to Charles Bridge. Other suggested hotel - hotel Julian is OK but out of the area you want to be. There are plenty of hotels in your preferred area. The best would be to google Old Town hotels and check their location on the provided map. For example hotel U zlate studny on Karlova Street has an ideal location (and it is also beautiful hotel), just few steps from Charles Bridge and less than 5 minutes from Old Town Square.

Thank you everyone for the great information. I booked the Hotel Hastal. They do have A/C and free WiFi for my husband to do his work.

I've been in Prague twice in July, 2008 and 2010.Maybe I was just there during heat waves, but I'd recommend air conditioning when looking for a hotel.
