I would like to travel to Poland this May and see the Auschwitz concenstration camp. Does anybody know of a good place to stay that is near the camp? Thanks.

Oswiecim, the city where the camps are located is an industrial city with a big factory in the middle. Other than the camps there is really nothing to do in the city. Most visitors do it as a day trip from Krakow. IMO visiting the camps is important, but the place made me sick to my stomach and couldn't wait to get as far away from it as possible. Staying overnight in a city were millions were murdered is not something I would recommend.

Of course you should visit Aushchwitz....and it's "should", not "want to" or "glad to have"...but Krakow is so close by bus that there is no reason to stay overnight in the area.
