Hotel Sumengen, Istanbul

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone here on the Helpline stayed at this hotel. I will be arriving there late afternoon after a long flight and so I was hoping you could suggest some quick and easy restaurant options nearby. Im always tired and slightly grumpy upon arrival so I like to plan ahead. Thanks!

Gretchen, Don't worry at all. Check in to your hotel and then step outside and look around. There are many restaurants in that area. Just choose one that looks busy--a good sign. Your hotel will also be able to advise you. Gwen

Stayed there May of last year on the RS 7 day tour. LOVED the small cafe one block up from the hotel on the left side of the street. Wooden tables and chairs. Best tomato, garlic and eggplant dish I've ever had and I don't even like eggplant. Served a nice beer as well. Stopped there nearly every night. The manager and cook were friendly and polite with big smiles. Fun to sit and watch the world pass by. One of my many favorite remembrances of Istanbul. Enjoy.

We stayed in this hotel on an RS tour last September. Lots of restaurant choices nearby. Exit the hotel and go one block up the street directly in front. According to our guide, the seafood restaurant on the corner on the right is questionable. So turn right and you will encounter several blocks of restaurants. Good luck choosing and enjoy Istanbul!

Just got back from Istanbul few days ago, stayed at the Hotel Sumengen, and loved it. Very comfortable and well-located. Nice staff (and big, varied and yummy breakfasts) As other posters said, there are many eating options steps away from the hotel. For quick, nearby, delicious food I'd head for Cafe Hayatjust one short block up the street from the Hotel, on left hand side.
Istanbul is enchantingEnjoy!

Stayed there last May for the RS tour of Istanbul- loved the hotel and lots of places to eat nearby. Great breakfast! Have a look on Tripadvisor too- I posted some photos from our room on there.
Enjoy Istanbul- for me, it's a magical place.
