Hotel or district recommendation in Dubrovnik?

I loved the area just outside the Pile Gate. It was close to the old town but quiet. There are only a few true hotel choices in that area, but several sobe. Jadranka Benussi rents 4 very nice rooms that should be right around your price point. I stayed there in 2008 and would highly recommend it. Website is www.dubrovnik-benussi.com.

Another option ... when we visited Dubrovnik, we slept in Cavtat, which is a gorgeous little village just south of Dubrovnik (very near the Dubrovnik airport) with a large yacht harbor. If you like boats, it's fun to sit by the port with a glass of wine at the end of the day and watch the yachts come in. It's about 10 minutes by bus (or 30 minutes by boat, which was fun) to Dubrovnik. You can walk the walls and explore the old town, but then go back to your lovely, peaceful little town when you're done. There are B&B's well under 100 euros. I can give you a couple of good ones to check out if you're interested. Let me know.
