Looking, Searching, Reading about hotels in Prague.. our budget does not include 5 stars, or maybe not even 4 stars. Had a lead on Hotel U Krize, but the reviews are mixed. Where have people stayed? Our trip is in 5 weeks. Thanks.
Hi there! havent been there ourselves but we have friends who run the website www.myczechrepublic.com
They can be of great help if you get in touch! :) Greg and Rona
We enjoyed the Dum y velké boty (House at the Big Boot), walked a couple of blocks and across the Charles Bridge, or caught a tram for the rest of town. Lovely family, great rooms and breakfast. The neighborhood is by several embassies including the American one. No sign out front, just the fowers in windowboxes. It is a real contrast to the noise of the city, but I thought convenient, clean, comfortable. Recommended by others onTtripAdvisor. interesting to talk to Jan about the Velvet Revolution.
Also stayed at one of the many Ibis close to the train station, but it's not as pleasant as the Big Boot. http://www.dumuvelkeboty.cz/
We've been in Prague a few times and like Hotel Julian for leisure and Marriot Flora for business trips. I'm guessing this is vacation trip so I'd recommend the Julian which is a slightly away from old town but with all kinds of public transportation around the corner and Mike's chauffer, the best car hire in Prague right next door.
This May we stayed at the Dum y velké boty and it was great. Terrific hosts, warm and friendly, and all as described above. Staying there truly enhanced our visit to beautiful Prague.
Cloister Inn in Old Town has very reasonable room rates with breakfast included. It's near the Bethlehem Chapel and on a street with some cute restaurants.
Jo-Ann, If you want a VERY comfortable but basic Hotel in a great location, have a look at The Green Garland Pension. It's only a short walk from the Charles Bridge, and the staff are wonderful. I stayed there last September and would absolutely recommend them. One note about "basic" though - there was no TV (if that's important to you?). Happy travels!
I second the Green Garland -- stayed there last May and it was great!
We stayed at Arcadia Residence, the Konza 6 site, just steps from Old Town in September 2010. The inn was lovely in so many ways.....but the friendliness and service of the owner
Pasquale was truly exceptional. Read the Trip Advisor reviews. They are not overstated
Hotel Hastel is a 15 minute walk from the train station and 5 minutes from Old Town. The staff is helpful but the walls are a bit thin. But the price is right. Ask for a quiet room.
Jo-Ann, we stayed in the U Zlateho Jelena (Golden Stag) - last May. it is perfectly located, was very clean and located in the heart of Old Town. It was unbelievably reasonable for 4 adults.
