Hostels, couch surf or inexpensive B&B's in Prague?

I plan to stay 8 days in Prague this April. I have not regestered yet with any hostels. I'm debating what would be the best choice for me In Prague for sleeping arrangements. I don't want to spend a lot of money. Do hostels have lockers for your valuables? What are your thoughts for me?

Hi Jacque
We were in Prague several years ago and stayed at Guest House Lida (recommended by Rick Steves). It was about 15-20 min by tram outside the old town, and was really affordable, clean, neat, with a good breakfast and great hosts. We got a nice feel for a real Prague neighborhood, it was right near the tram, and we had a great time. If you want to right in the center of things, this is probably not the place for you, but we found it to be a great value. Brenda

Jacque, There will certainly be Hostels in Prague, and that would likely be one of the lowest cost options. Check the HI Hostels website for listings of HI-affiliated properties. You might also have a look at the Green Garland B&B. It's located in a very convenient area, and only a few minutes walk from the Charles Bridge. The rooms are somewhat "basic" but very comfortable, and the staff are wonderful! Happy travels!

My recommendation (via Rick Steves) is that you check out these two websites -- www.lidabb.eu and www.oldpraguehostel.com I believe you'll find them interesting! My sister and I will be in Prague the end of May.

Jacque, If you are wanting to couch surf or just have a room or bit of space in someone's home, you might try airbnb.com or roomorama.com. They may be a source of some inexpensive options for you. Velda
